The Song of Roland

Introduction
The Song of Roland
Inspired by the epic poem La Chanson de Roland, this work uses the visual language of heraldry, blood-combat and arabic script to tell the many-layered story of deception, intrigue, betrayal and heroism that the Song of Roland layers on the historic battle of Roncevaux in 778. History records the battle as a turning point in the struggle between Charlemagne and Baligant, the Emir of Babylon - the Song of Roland presents a first-person, heroic and poetically coloured narrative of the historic events.
